Leadership Academy: Texas is a school-based program for 2nd – 8th graders. The purpose of this program is to encourage and inspire today’s student leaders, while simultaneously building relationships and a sense of community between the students and their school resources officer (SRO) and school counselors.
Leadership Academy: Texas (the Academy) is currently seeing middle school campuses who are interested in participating in this exciting program along with their school resources officer (SRO) and school counselors (or community-based officers).
The Academy will provide FREE Facilitator Training events for school counselors, SRO, and other school staff to attend. Academy Facilitators will be trained on adolescent brain development, restorative justice practices, and the importance of interacting with the students in a positive manner during the Facilitator Training events. Academy Facilitators will become proficient in restorative practices, as well as receive instruction and guidance on how to properly implement and facilitate the Leadership Academy: Texas on individual campuses. Law enforcement officers attending the Facilitator Training will receive 8-hours of TCOLE credit.
