In December 2015, the internal affairs division found me guilty of leaking a body cam video showing an officer committing a criminal act towards a prisoner to a local news outlet. I remained steadfast in my innocence even after being given written orders from the chief to turn over personal cell phone records and submit to a polygraph or risk being suspended or possibly terminated. When my suspension was handed down, the chief told me that my credibility was lost as a result of not cooperating. The local news outlets also reported that I, along with two other officers, were suspended or terminated for releasing the video.
TMPA was with me the entire step of the way. One phone call and I was immediately placed in contact with by far the best lawyer I have ever had in contact with. Mr. David Willis was always one phone call away, and in some instances, would with me with less than 30 minutes notice as I was called in to provide statements on very short notice as well. During my arbitration hearing, Mr. Willis held no punches and pointed out simple, obvious facts that the chief has overlooked during the investigation that showed my innocence. During the entire process – from being served with notice to the end of the arbitration – I felt the support from TMPA constantly whether it was a phone call from local members or Mr. Jeremy Jones attending the three days of hearing over a two-month time frame.
As I write this, I received word that my arbitration case was won. In reviewing the results, I am overwhelmed with was ruled in our favor. Mr. Willis fought hard all the while stating that I had done nothing wrong; the arbitrator’s ruling validated what we already knew.
The process was long and strenuous at many points, but TMPA showed why they are the best out there. Not one day went by that I felt that this would end in the manner and outcome that it did; not one day went by that I was expressed those sentiments by someone from TMPA. To the directors, local representatives, and especially to the finest legal team, my family and I thank you for the steadfast dedication to bringing out the truth.
