TMPA Officer of the Month Deputy Jason Agee

TMPA is pleased to announce Hunt County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Agee as our May 2010 Officer of the Month!

Agee's incredible service to the residents of Hunt County, his dedicated work serving as a Field Training Officer, and his recent dramatic fire rescue (which made headlines across Texas); Deputy Agee is nothing less than exceptional.

May 1, 2010

Hunt County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jason Agee, an officer of 4 ½ years and former Vice President of the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office Association, was born in Balch Springs, Texas and grew up in the Rowlett area. While working for his family’s delivery service near Dallas, he witnessed burglaries and drunk drivers first hand and felt motivated to do something about it. After participating in a ride-along with his cousin, he knew his future was in law enforcement.

Deputy Agee put himself through cadet school and was hired as a reserve with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office. Working as a reserve for over a year, when a full time position opened he jumped on it.

To serve and protect means something to Jason Agee; background in customer service, he knew that officers weren’t just the guys that arrest people, but they serve their community. Agee views his role with the sheriff’s office through the lens of community policing and is dedicated to his community. One of the most joyful aspects of Deputy Agee’s work is his role as a Field Training Officer. “To be able to train fellow deputies properly gives them the tools they need to better serve the community and stay safe,” said Agee. “I have a role in shaping an officers career, and for that I am truly grateful,” he commented.

Last year’s holiday season was especially difficult for Deputy Agee and several residents of Hunt County, when three homes burned to the ground, and three residents of the county died (unrelated and from natural causes). Agee shared that while all of these events are “part of the job,” serving the grieving families, as well as those who lost their homes during the holidays, made it much more difficult.

Jason made headlines when he was involved in what newspapers called, “A dramatic fire rescue.” Agee was called to a fire at a residence, where he was able to contain the fire, allowing the inhabitants to evacuate without injury. Because of his efforts, the family was able to recover most of their belongings, even though their home was no longer inhabitable. The praise Jason received from his department and in media outlets across Texas surprised him. Jason, as many of who serve, is an extremely humble man (just doing his job).

Jason Agee has been a member of TMPA since the first day his career in law enforcement began. “TMPA was the only choice, hands down,” raved Agee. “If any of us at Hunt County have a question, we know TMPA is always there to answer them. TMPA also assisted our Sheriff’s Association in a big way, by re-establishing us and helping us gain strength. TMPA was there the whole time,” Deputy Agee commented.
