Law enforcement groups express disappointment at a Dallas County Commissioner

For Immediate Release

Law enforcement groups express disappointment at a Dallas County Commissioner The combined approximately 32,000 members of the Texas Municipal Police Association, the Dallas Police Association, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Association, The Texas lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Dallas Transit Police Association take exception to remarks made by a Dallas County Commissioner during the meeting on July 5th where the court was considering honoring the five officers that were killed serving their community last July. We are joined in this exception by the organizations of the Metroplex Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors and the National Concerns of Police Survivors.

It is incumbent in this Country to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service of their nation, state, and community. While we believe that no single life is more important than another, we nevertheless believe that honoring those who give their lives in the line of duty is just and proper. We do not believe that doing so in anyway diminishes the significance of other lives lost. We fully support the full vote of the Dallas County Commissioners Court that was in favor of recognizing the sacrifice of those who serve.

We are disappointed and concerned with the statements made by an elected official who is supposed to serve towards uniting community versus dividing it.
