Boerne Police Officer Pritesh “Paul” Patel died on December 30, 2008.  Paul was 37 years old.  Paul had been hospitalized since November 16th when he was first taken to Boerne Methodist Hospital after showing signs of a heart attack while on duty.  Paul was transported to Methodist Hospital in San Antonio and suffered a heart attack while at the hospital.  Paul had been hospitalized since that time and had shown signs of improvement, but on Saturday 12-27-08 he suffered a major stroke.  It is believed the initial illness and the heart attack were all caused by a viral infection.

Paul began his law enforcement career in 1995 with Bexar County Constable Pct. 5, and also worked for the Kendall County Sheriffs Department from 1999 to 2004.  On April 2, 2007, he became a Boerne Police Officer.

The Boerne Police Department would like to thank the community for their prayers and for those who contributed to the bank account established to help Paul’s family with medical and other expenses.

“Paul was an outstanding officer and a good man.  He cared deeply for his family and for his profession and the members of the Boerne Police Department.  His strong work ethic helped him fight to return to work after the initial signs of illness, and that same strength helped keep us all hopeful that he would some day return to work.  We are truly saddened and will miss him dearly.”

Viewing will be at Porter Loring Mortuaries North located at 2102 N Loop 1604 East in San Antonio on Sunday, January 4 from 1600 to 1900 hours.  Services will be held on Monday, January 5 at the 1000 hours at Cornerstone Church at 18755 Stone Oak Parkway, San Antonio, TX.
