Law Enforcement Training and Education
TMPA is dedicated to the
philosophy that a well trained, better educated officer
will not only better serve the public but will also
enjoy a safer career in law enforcement. We understand
that many departments cannot afford the luxury of
sending their officers across the state to attend courses.
TMPA is addressing this disparity in resources by
offering a statewide training network that brings
the training to your area.
TMPA maintains a training agreement with TCLEOSE
and is a TCLEOSE certified independent trainer.
We maintain a statewide network of instructors
that can bring the training your department needs
to your area at a tuition rate lower than most
other triaining providers.
Training
Department Announcements
The
State Office maintains a mailing list designed
for the distribution of information to you about upcoming
TMPA training courses. If you wish to be added
to the system you will automatically receive, by mail
or e-mail, fliers and calendars on upcoming classes
in your area. Training information is also regularly
posted on our web site.
Due
Process & Officers Rights
This new course offering will be taught twice
in one day. Attorney Bob Gorsky will provide you
with vitally important information regarding:
at-will employment status, the just cause standard,
properly handling administrative complaints and
investigations, the new polygraph law, First Amendment
rights, lawsuits brought by peace officers (assault
and battery, defamation, libel, slander, malicious
prosecution, personal injury), the Texas Whistleblower
Act, and the criminal and administrative investigation
of both on- and off-duty shootings.
