Chris,

I applaud TMPA's response to CLEAT's correspondence and agree with the association's stance on not chasing lies.

As a current member of TMPA and a former member (many years ago) of CLEAT I can only say that CLEAT's actions do nothing but bring about an unprofessional air to not only their organization but to professional peace officers all over the state.

I have been privy to some events that have taken place involving CLEAT, it's leaders and leaders of a particular police officer association which is affiliated with CLEAT. As of now, I know of at least one former leader of that police officer association who is currently doing time in a federal correction facility and others that are probably under investigation by state or local or federal law enforcement agencies for similar acts.

It appears to me that CLEAT has become nothing more than a dynasty for it's current (and to my knowledge only) president. Anytime something like that is allowed to happen can only lead to no good.

Again, congratulations on the association's stance and to you for your leadership in this area.
