Protecting Those Who Serve
for Over 50 Years

On March 03, 2003, while attempting to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, I was shot and injured by a driver who, unbeknownst to me, had minutes earlier committed a bank robbery. After taking a round through the leg, I returned fire at the driver as he fled the scene of my shooting.

I turned to TMPA and your legal services for support in the internal affairs investigation that followed. I received expert assistance from Lance Wyatt of the Lyon, Gorsky, Baskett, Haring and Gilbert Law Firm. Lance provided the legal advice necessary, but perhaps more importantly for my situation, was also there for me as a friend as I recovered from my injuries. Despite what I know must be a heavy caseload, Lance always made me feel as if I was his only priority.
Additionally, I was quite surprised to receive a gift of flowers from TMPA on the very day I was shot. Such timely action by your organization is proof of your concern for your members and evidence of your awareness of the events we encounter. I am proud to be a member of TMPA and honored by your professionalism.

Thank you for being there,

Officer Jeff Garner
North Richland Hills Police Department
