My experience with TMPA's legal defense fund was flawless. Lance Wyatt was at the scene and assisted me through the issues, and kept me informed throughout the process. I hope I never have to use him again, but I wouldn't hesitate a second in calling him to the scene.

I try to use my story to encourage fellow officers to join TMPA. I assumed prior to my incident that I could talk my out of any bad situation. Our shooting incident happened as well as it could have. We did it right. The department's response was great and perfectly appropriate. Regardless, officers need an advocate who will look out exclusively for the officer's interests. TMPA provided that advocate in Lance Wyatt. TMPA's Legal Defense Fund works, and it is worry free.

I have also called Kevin Lawrence about minor issues that I felt may have needed some attention down the road. Just mentioning the fact that I called cleared the way and removed some hurdles without even using the fund. It's just as powerful a tool as anything on your Sam Browne.

I will continue to support TMPA as a member until I leave the profession.
