Federal Legal Protection
The Texas Municipal Police Association has protected the interests of law enforcement since 1950. Our Federal Officer's Legal Defense Fund is the best because we:

• Provide legal representation for ANY administrative action that results in suspension, demotion, termination, or promotional pass
over, even if the incident is not duty related.
• Provide complete legal coverage for all criminal prosecutions that arise out of the course and scope of your duties (on or off -duty),
• Provide an attorney to defend and/or monitor all civil suits that arise out of the course and scope of your duties (on or off-duty),
• Pay all expenses necessary to properly defend you including: polygraph, private investigators expenses, expert witnesses and any other professional services
• Pay all arbitration or related judicial fees that would normally be your responsibility.
• Provide you with access to an attorney for consultation before disciplinary, civil or criminal action is taken against you.
• Have no deductibles, co-pays or reimbursement provisions. You never get a bill.
• Have no caps on coverage.
Check our plan and compare with others. You will not find another law enforcement legal defense plan that is more comprehensive or affordable.

" I have been a member of TMPA for a little over two months. Last month I was involved in a critical incident while serving a warrant with the DFW fugitive task force I am assigned to. At the time, I was also a member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer's Association (FLEOA). Immediately after the incident, I contacted both FLEOA and TMPA. Within 15 minutes, I received at least 3 phone calls from TMPA members asking what they could do to help, and if I was alright. Additionally, TMPA sent attorney Lance Wyatt directly to my location. In the spirit of "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all", I'll briefly describe FLEOA's response. Nothing. Over 24 hours after the incident, I was finally contacted by a FLEOA attorney. This was only after my local Special Agent in Charge contacted FLEOA's HQ to investigate why they failed to respond. Needless to say, TMPA earned a life-long member that day. Based on my experience, I know of at least two agents who have now joined TMPA and cancelled their FLEOA memberships."

"….This morning at about 0110 hours, I was forced to fire my weapon for the first time in 16 years. Once the situation permitted, my first call was to 800-848-2088. I was connected to a gentleman who listened and reassured me that TMPA was there for me. I wish to sincerely thank Mr. Paul Aman and TMPA for the professional and timely assistance provided to me in my time of need..."

“… In 2007, 1 was involved in an incident while on duty, which lead to an internal affairs investigation that lasted four months. There are no words that can express my gratitude to Ms Bishkin and TMIPA. For two years, Ms Bishkin kept me informed of everything that she did concerning my legal matters. After my acquittal, Ms Bishkin handled my expunction, which now h as been completed. TMPA paid my entire legal fees. I truly know that without the help of Ms Bishkin and TMPA I could be on my way to prison. If there is an officer that goes on duty every day without being a member of TMPA, it's the same as going to work without a gun…"

SAFVIC
TMPA provides the Sexual Assault and Family Violence Investigators Course (SAFVIC), which TMPA created through a grant funded by the Officer of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division. TMPA host a 40-hour train-the-trainer course designed to provide future instructors on conducting the 3-day course. This is an exciting and very popular program that provides officers with better tools and resources to deal with family violence and sexual assault cases.
LEADRS
TMPA created and maintains the first online DWI reporting system in the nation with grants from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and TxDOT. The program, known as the Law Enforcement Advanced DWI/DUI Reporting System (LEADRS) is available statewide in Texas and several other states and has reduced officer down time for reports by as much as 50%.
Political Action Committee (PAC)
TMPA Political Action Committee (TMPA PAC) helps support political candidates that believe in the mission of Texas law enforcement. TMPA PAC contributes to the campaigns of those that will support our efforts to pass positive criminal Justice legislation and oppose bills that: limit an officers use of a conductive electronic device (stun guns) prohibit class C arrests, require corroborating evidence to support the testimony of undercover officers, allow unscrupulous fundraising on behalf of fallen officers, limit an officer's ability to conduct a consent search, and diminish civil service protections, to name a few. Your contribution ensures that your voice and the voice of Texas law enforcement can be heard in the legislature. We appreciate your support
