The 2016 Texas Peace Officers’ Memorial Ceremony, honoring those who died in the line of duty in 2015, was held on May 1 and 2 on the Texas Capitol grounds.
The candlelight vigil was held at the Memorial Wall on Sunday night with hundreds of attendees. U.S. Representative Ted Poe delivered the keynote address with Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) Executive Director Dianne Bernhard as the guest speaker. The statewide memorial ceremony was held Monday morning on the south steps of the Texas Capitol. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick presented medals and resolutions to the surviving family members of the 11 Texas peace officers who died in the line of duty in 2015.
